1. INTRODUCTION

SavySoft is a software product that turns your PC or Laptop into a phone. The only piece of equipment that is needed is a headset ( or earphone/speaker and microphone), if you don't already have one or a USB phone.

Once the SavySoft software is installed in your PC or Laptop, you will have a phone running on the SavyTel network. The soft dialer allows you to make calls to and to receive calls from any telephone or any SavyTel subscriber around the world.

With the Dialer, you can:

  • Originate call from your SavySoft to a fixed or a mobile phone
  • Originate call from your SavySoft to another SavyTel subscriber.
  • Originate call from your SavySoft to another SavyTel subscriber with SavySoft (to be released)
  • Receive call from other SavyTel subscribers (SIP phone and SavySoft, to be released)
  • Receive call from a fixed or a mobile phone (to be released)

2. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ON PC OR LAPTOP

The following minimum configuration is required on your PC or Laptop:

  • Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP with Pentium-3 processor or higher.
  • A full-duplex sound card.
  • A computer headset with microphone, or a USB phone, or a USB adapter which can be connected to the conventional phone.
  • Disk space of 3 Mbytes.
  • MSN Messenger or Microsoft RTC (Real-time Collaboration) needs to be installed in the computer.

3. INTERNET CONNECTION

A broadband or dialup internet connection is required to make phone calls. SavySoft can work with any of the following Internet connections:

  • Dial-up connection.
  • Cable connection.
  • DSL connection.
  • Direct connection as a host to a LAN network.

4. INSTALLATION OF SAVYSOFT

To download the SavySoft, you will need a valid SavyTel account.

The Account number and password are required to download the SavySoft.

PURCHASE OF SAVYTEL ACCOUNT
If you do not have a valid SavyTel account, you can purchase a SavyTel Account from a SavyTel local Distributor, a SavyTel dealer or from SavyTel website.

INSTALLATION

To install the SavySoft software, perform the following steps:

  • If SavySoft is already installed on your computer, uninstall it first: Start / All Programs / SavyTel / Uninstall SavyTel phone.
  • Go to SavyTel's Website at http://www.savytel.com
  • Follow the link to down load the SavySoft software (" SavySoft Download now")
  • Enter the supplied Account number and the password to start the download.
  • File Download menu is displayed. Click on Save button and follow the rest of the downloading instructions
  • After the successful downloading, Download complete menu is displayed. Click on Open Folder.
  • Double click on SaveySoft icon to start the installation and follow the on screen instructions.
  • After the successful installation, a SavyTel Phone icon is displayed and the SavySoft application is launched with a SavySoft login menu.
  • Enter the Account number and password to login to the SavyTel network.
  • Observe the message Ready in the Message bar.
  • You may want to fine tune the SavySoft audio by clicking on the Audio Tuning Wizard and follow the instruction.
  • Now with the installed software and the headset (or the USB phone ), the SavySoft is ready to be used and you can call to any telephone (fixed or mobile) or to another SavyTel subscriber around the world.
  • You can start to originate call by following the instructions in Section 5, TO MAKE PHONE CALL.

5. MAKING CALLS

Now the SavySoft is ready to make calls ( local and international calls) just like any ordinary phone. ( or to another SavyTel subscriber around the world.)

DESTINATION NUMBER:

  • The destination number can be a telephone number or a SavyTel subscriber number (PIN).
  • If the called party is a fixed or mobile telephone, the telephone number of the called party is the destination number.
  • If the called party is a SavyTel subscriber, then the called SavyTel subscriber's account (PIN) is the destination number.

TO LOG ON THE DIALER:

  • Double click on the SavySoft icon on your desktop. The SavySoft GUI is displayed with a message Not Logged In and login window.
  • Login Information window is displayed. Enter your PIN and password, and then click the Login button. ( if you check the save password box, next time you login the logon window is not displayed and the dialer is in READY state)
  • Observe that message Ready is displayed in the message bar and your PIN is displayed.
  • Now the SavySoft is ready to act like an ordinary phone.

If you are already logged in and wishes to change the account information, click on the "Log In" button on the main GUI and this will launch the Login window.

TO MAKE PHONE CALL:

  • Enter the number you want to call into the box Enter the number to call. This number can be a telephone number or the PIN (which is the SavyTel directory number) of another SavyTel subscriber. This can be done in any of the following 3 ways:
    • By clicking digit buttons.
    • Entering the digits directly in the box Enter the number to call
    • Double-clicking on one of the numbers in the box below (the previous-number box).
  • Click on the Call button.
  • Wait for the ringing tone and message Ringing displayed in the message bar.
  • When the other party answers the call, the ringing tone will stop and message Connected will be displayed.
  • Conversation starts.
  • Click the Hang Up button to terminate the call.
  • Observe that the previously dialed number now appears in the previous-numbers box.
  • After the call completion, the latest account balance is displayed under Balanced
  • The international-call prefix (011 or 01) is not required when calling an international number.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Login button can be used to exit from the current account (PIN) and login with another account.
  • Call Log button provides a list of your call history with all the account activity.
  • Rates button provides the current rates (to be released).
  • Setting button provides the information related to the configuration.
  • Ads Book button launches the address book.
  • The volume of the speaker (audio output) and the microphone (audio input) can be adjusted through their volume bars on the main window.
  • Audio Tuning Wizard is used for fine-tuning audio and video.

6. RECEIVING CALLS

The SavySoft can receive calls from a fixed phone (PSTN), a mobile phone or from another SavyTel subscriber.

  • When there is an incoming call to the Dialer, You have an incoming call dialog box will pop-up on the screen, a ringing tone together with Calling Line Identity (CLI) of the calling party.
  • Click on the Take The Call button to accept the call.
  • Click on the Drop The Call button to reject the call.
